  • On Chhota Nivesh, there are several payment options for investors who wish to purchase silver online. Mentioned below are the listed payment types available on the application:

    • Net-banking

  • GST is levied on any form of silver purchase i.e., physical silver as well as digital silver. For investors who purchase silver online, apart from other charges, a 3% GST is also levied. Simply because, when the investor purchases silver online, the seller buys the physical silver in the name of the investor equivalent to the amount invested by the buyer.

  • Silver obtained as gift is absolute tax-free. So you need to maintain a record of the silver gifts you have received to avoid confusion with the IT (Income tax) department. The sale of silver metal is treated as a capital gain. In case you are selling any silver ornaments after 36 months of holding, they will be categorised under long-term capital gains (LTCG) from which you can enjoy the indexation benefits. The LTCG charge on the silver holdings for more than 36 months is *15%. If you have silver holdings for less than 36 months and want to sell before this time period, then it will be categorised under short-term capital gain (STCG) and will be charged at *10%.

This difference is based on factors such as volatility, supply, physical market conditions and many more. On our platform the live prices of silver are transparent. In addition to this difference, GST is charged on the buy price of digital silver but not on the on-sell price. There are other minor charges involved while purchasing i.e., payment gateway, trustee, insurance company, etc., which also affect the difference in buy and sell price.

  • To prevent the misuse of your silver account, you must complete/update the KYC process. The correct information/details about the customer will help in identifying the real owners of the silver stored in the vault. However, it is not mandatory to complete E-KYC unless you reach the threshold limit.

  • To purchase digital silver, you can invest as low as Re.1 through different online payment options. While selling, you can only sell digital silver which you have purchased from us. Also, you can sell digital silver only after 48 hours of the purchase for security reasons.
